About Our Cleanup Process and Truck Routes

Hundreds of experts are on site each day working around the clock to remove food waste and clear debris using a variety of equipment and manual processes. As part of the Waste Management Plan for the Boyle Heights warehouse fire response cleanup, truck haul routes have been established for transporting materials to disposal and recycling facilities. These routes were developed in coordination with multiple city and county agencies, including the Los Angeles Department of Transportation and Los Angeles County Public Works, and were shared with participating agencies throughout the planning process.

How These Routes Were Determined

Routes aim to reduce noise, vibration and road safety concerns for residents.

One-way routing limits truck maneuvering and reversing on narrow streets for safety and efficiency.

Haul routes were selected to reduce sharp turns into traffic.

Disposal and Recycling Facilities

Waste is separated and classified before being transported to the appropriate permitted disposal or recycling facility. Roll-off containers are used to collect food waste. Once a container is filled, it is sealed and sprayed before leaving the site to help reduce impacts to the surrounding community. The various types of waste are transported to disposal and recycling facilities. The table below summarizes these landfill locations.
