Spotlight on Lineage in Norway: Cold storage solutions from Haugesund to key markets across the country

June 10, 2026

Lineage has steadily built one of Norway's most strategically positioned temperature-controlled networks. It's a region that depends on strong connections between food production regions, port-centric import/export hubs and high-population end markets.

With four facilities across the country, including in Larvik, Moss, Haugesund and Brumunddal, Lineage connects the Norwegian food supply chain from the west coast to the inland regions and the greater Oslo area.

A Norwegian network designed for coverage and capacity

Lineage's network in Norway spans over 28,900 square meters of temperature-controlled warehousing. Each facility provides storage space across multiple climate zones to meet the needs of different types of food products.

These facilities are strategically positioned across the country, near busy ports, inland distribution corridors and major population centers. This sprawling footprint gives Lineage customers extensive reach across Norway and into the broader Nordic and international markets.

Strategic port access opens the door to international markets

Port access plays a major role in the Norwegian food supply chain. Port-centric facilities help connect domestic food production with global markets, while also allowing for easier import logistics.

Nearly every Lineage facility in Norway sits close to a major port. Lineage’s Larvik facility is adjacent to Norway's second largest container port while the facility in Moss serves the broader eastern Norwegian market. The Brumunddal  facility is located just an hour north of Oslo, making it a vital hub for Norwegian food logistics. The Lineage facility in Haugesund provides access to three western harbors, Stavanger, Haugesund and Bergen.

Together, Lineage’s port-centric footprint in Norway can help customers streamline their import/export cold chain flows across the region.

Supporting sustainability initiatives across the Norwegian network

The Haugesund facility runs over 880 solar panels to help support renewable energy generation on-site.

The Moss facility — a cold storage warehouse uniquely built inside a cave — now recovers approximately 1.3 GWh of waste heat per year. It feeds approximately 800,000 kWh into the local district heating grid to help warm hospitals and public buildings, with another 500,000 kWh reused on-site.

Local expertise backed by a global cold chain network

All Norwegian facilities are backed by local market knowledge and supported by Lineage's global network of over 500 facilities across North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific. This network gives customers access to world-class technology, warehouse management systems, diverse transportation modes and a suite of integrated cold chain solutions.

Market spotlight: Haugesund connects Norway’s west coast to global markets

At the Haugesund facility, Lineage brings deep operational expertise in freezing, thawing, storage and logistics tailored to various food commodities; capabilities that go well beyond standard cold storage.

A west coast location with multiple transportation connections

Positioned near the ports of Stavanger, Haugesund and Bergen, the Haugesund facility supports domestic distribution and international trade. Ocean freight, over-the-road transportation, bonded warehousing and export preparation services are all available through the site. The integrated suite of services allows customers to manage the whole supply chain through a single provider.

Supporting product handling and export preparation

The facility also provides a wide range of value-added supply chain services including de-boxing, case picking, sorting, labeling and EDI documentation support. These services help prepare products for retail distribution, export programs and customer-specific requirements.

Cold storage and logistics solutions across Norway

While the Haugesund facility serves as an important gateway on Norway’s west coast, it’s only one part of the broader Lineage network in the country.

Together, the facilities in Larvik, Moss, Haugesund and Brumunddal create a footprint that stretches from major port infrastructure to inland distribution corridors and the greater Oslo market. That combination gives customers access to cold storage capacity, transportation services and import/export support across some of Norway’s most important food logistics regions.
