Lineage Foundation for Good Joins DC Central Kitchen and Celebrity Chefs to Combat Hunger and Poverty at Capital Food Fight
November 02, 2023
Washington, D.C.– November 2, 2023 -- Lineage Foundation for Good (the “Foundation”), the independent philanthropic arm of Lineage, today announced it will be a showcase sponsor of DC Central Kitchen’s 19th annual Capital Food Fight on Thursday, November 9. The Foundation’s $50,000 contribution to Capital Food Fight will help further the shared mission of combating food insecurity, with all event proceeds benefiting DC Central Kitchen and bolstering local communities.
The Capital Food Fight, held at The Anthem, an iconic music venue on the Southwest Waterfront in Washington D.C., is a culinary battle showcasing four local top chefs: Executive Chef & Co-Owner of All Set Ed Reavis, Chef Rachel Bindel of Gravitas, Executive Chef of dLeña Carlos Camacho, and Estuary’s Chef de Cuisine Ria Montes. The competition will be hosted and emceed by celebrity chefs José Andrés and Spike Mendelsohn, along with media personality Tommy McFly.
Founded by renowned chef José Andrés, the event is judged by some of the biggest names in the culinary world—from award-winning and renowned chefs Tom Colicchio, Justin Sutherland, Fariyal Abdullahi and Rocco DiSpirito to food enthusiast and Washington Nationals legend Ryan Zimmerman. In addition to the culinary competition, festivities will feature more than 75 esteemed restaurants and corporate partners from the DC-Maryland-Virginia (DMV) area. Attendees of the event can convene in the Lineage Lounge, which will be hosted by The Foundation, providing a comfortable space to enjoy the event's culinary offerings.
"The partnership with DC Central Kitchen enables Lineage Foundation for Good to fulfill its mission of leveraging its resources to combat food waste and address food insecurity by linking food producers with the communities in need," said Hannah Hoskins, the Executive Director at Lineage Foundation for Good. "We are thrilled and appreciative to be part of what is dubbed 'DC's most impactful night of doing good.' It's a tremendous opportunity to support our shared community and drive meaningful change."
“Lineage and the Lineage Foundation for Good’s partnership with DC Central Kitchen represents the best of corporate citizenship,” said DC Central Kitchen CEO Mike Curtin Jr. “Lineage has provided expert assistance on our cold storage needs, helped us build a local movement to expand cold storage access for hunger-fighting nonprofits across our region, and made the 2023 Capital Food Fight the ‘can’t miss event’ of the year. We’re thrilled to continue building this high-impact collaboration as we work together to bring healthy food safely and efficiently where it is most needed in our community.”
The Lineage Foundation for Good was established as a non-profit charity to serve the communities in which we operate by tackling food insecurity. Since 2020, Lineage and the Lineage Foundation for Good have donated the equivalent of 312 million meals in partnership with customers donating surplus product, team members donating food to local food banks and unrestricted grants issued to help build capacity at food banks around the globe. The Foundation partners with Feeding America domestically as well as the Global FoodBanking Network internationally to enable redirection of surplus food to those in need.
