Celebrating One Year of Community-Based Action with the Lineage Foundation for Good

October 28, 2022

One year ago, we officially launched the Lineage Foundation for Good. The Foundation was born out of the idea that we could leverage our cold chain knowledge, influence, experience and expertise to reduce food waste and fight food insecurity around the world. With over 200 million meals provided to families and communities in need to date, we’re quickly realizing our limitless potential to make a difference.

Year One: Becoming a Force for Good

Over the past year, the Lineage Foundation for Good has been busy. What started with our “Share a Meal” program, which saw Lineage reach 100 million meals provided to people in need during the COVID-19 pandemic, has evolved into something bigger.

Our team members and the Lineage Foundation for Good have volunteered to help our communities all over the world. When the Foundation was started, our goal was to provide 500 million meals to those in need within five years. To date, Lineage and the Foundation for Good have already provided more than 239 million meals, with no signs of slowing down. From donations to food banks and community-based organizations with hunger-focused programs like Move for Hunger and the World Central Kitchen, to utilizing our food maximization philosophy to help our customers repurpose their overstocked or damaged products; Lineage and the Foundation for Good are deeply committed to addressing food insecurity and food waste on a global scale.

Community-based action is at the heart of what we do. That’s why the Foundation has issued more than $1.6 million in community-based grants throughout the year. These grants went to food banks, schools and other community-based organizations to help fund the essential work they do. The Foundation has also coordinated volunteer events throughout the year, encouraging Lineage team members to activate at a grassroots level to volunteer in communities around the world.

Through our Team Member Hardship program, the Lineage Foundation for Good showed up for our team members facing personal disasters all year long. More than $400,000 have gone to Lineage team members and their families to date, in response to natural disasters, unexpected illnesses and the war in Ukraine. From covering relocation costs and hosting refugees to helping team members recover after experiencing a home fire, flood or other natural disaster, Lineage and the Foundation stepped up in a big way to help our team members around the world.

This year has also seen the number of strategic partners working with the Foundation rocket to more than 40. With help from these strategic partners, the Foundation for Good has been able to coordinate volunteer events and make charitable donations to reach more people, in more communities, than ever before.

Through food drives, generous donations, and our creative food maximization program, the Lineage Foundation for Good has been able to help our communities all over the world this year. Some of Our Partners Include:

The Future of the Foundation

We’re proud of everything that we’ve been able to accomplish over the past year, but we know we’ve only just scratched the surface. By partnering even more deeply with food banks and other organizations in our communities, the Foundation is poised to deliver an even bigger impact on food insecurity and food waste in the year and years ahead.

We see providing 500 million meals in 5 years as just the start. And with 239 million meals already provided, it’s safe to say that when it comes to the future of the Foundation, the sky's the limit.
